Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Toronto, Ontario. Working plans call for the construction of a 30-story above grade hospitality development; restaurant; and recreation facility.
Second phase of development for the Hotel X lands, positioned on four acres on the north side of Lakeshore Blvd, and across from the Ontario Place lands. The proposed development on the site includes a 7,200-seat entertainment facility built with Esports in mind and includes a state-of-the-art performance venue. The theatre architecture creates a merger of the old and the new along with a second hotel on the Exhibition grounds. The venue complex will be built on four acres of land leased from the City of Toronto on the north side of Lake Shore Boulevard. It will be just across the footbridge from the Budweiser Stage amphitheater. The scope of work may also include but is not limited to new transit hub would expand the Exhibition GO station and streetcar loop; Dufferin Gate would be improved and expanded; and the Bentway and Fort York Connection is proposed to extend westward through to Exhibition Place. To the south, a park or plaza would deck over Lake Shore Boulevard to connect to Ontario Place, while a promenade would be re-established at the water's edge. To the west and east, The Gore and Marilyn Bell Parks would be expanded to improve connections into the grounds. The 360,000 square foot second phase expansion of the Hotel X facility includes a 400-room hotel with underground parking of approximately 400 spaces (the Phase 2 Hotel) and 190,000 square feet, 6,600 to 7,000 seat auditorium-style entertainment performance venue (the "Performance Venue) for a total area of 550,000 square feet but excluding the 200,000 square feet parking space. The proposed Phase 2 Hotel and venue would be located to the west of Stanley Barracks on the south side of Princes' Boulevard. The performance venue will be designed with state-of-the-art technology to accommodate eSports tournaments and leagues and would be home to the Toronto Defiant of the Overwatch League (OWL) and the Toronto Ultra of the Call of Duty League (CDL). TIMELINE: Plans are complete. A builder will be privately secured by invitation. Construction timelines are unreleased. At this time, project updates are not being released for publication. Further update may be available late 2024. *The hotel developer is Library Hotel Collection. *Correction: Brown & Storey is not the architect for this project.
