Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Project A1001, Queen Creek Road - Ellsworth Road to Crismon Road generally consists of approximately one mile of roadway and drainage works. Improvements to the road will be variously achieved using Fog seal, microsurfacing and full asphalt replacement, depending on the existing road construction and condition. The proposed construction work can be generally described as grading, pavement removal, subgrade, aggregate base, hot mix asphaltic concrete pavement, concrete curb and gutter, drainage catch basin and scupper, storm drain, reinforced concrete box culvert, street lighting trench, right-of-way grading, sidewalk, driveway ramp, pavement marking, traffic signage, traffic signal upgrades and modifications, ITS trench and conduit, fiber optic cable, street light, landscaping and landscape irrigation including repairs, construction traffic control, construction utility coordination and related incidental construction and improvements. Two schools are present in the vicinity of the project. Queen Creek Middle School is situated on Queen Creek Road within the limits of the proposed road improvements. Jack Barnes Elementary School is also close by on 214th Street. Movement of traffic approaching and departing the schools will be a significant aspect and component of the project. In addition, a significant residential community is accessed from this section of Queen Creek Road as well as commercial properties. Ingress / egress for the residents of the community and business customers shall be maintained throughout the construction work on the project. Through and local traffic movement must be maintainedduring the work also. There are several easements within the project limits that will require the Contractor to obtain additional permittingandconstructionobservationfrom pre-activity noticecontactofoutsideagencies, includingFlood Control District of Maricopa County, Queen Creek Irrigation District, and Kinder Morgan/El Paso Natural Gas Town of Queen Creek Capital Improvement Project (CIP) No. A1001 Queen Creek Road Improvements will widen the segment of roadway between Ellsworth Road and just east of Crismon Road to improve approximately one mile of existing scalloped street roadway. The proposed roadway will consist of two to four travel lanes with a center turn lane. Improvements will connect to the recently constructed improvements at the intersection of Ellsworth Road and Queen Creek Road as well as the north half street improvements along the Terravella subdivision. Proposed major work elements include paving, curb & gutter, sidewalk, storm drain, box culvert, minor water and sewer improvements, street lighting, ITS conduit and fiber, signage and pavement marking enhancements, and decomposed granite.
