Principal Items of Work: Bridge Grading Surfacing Signing Pavement Marking Seeding Guardrail Each bidder is required to deposit with his Proposal a cashier's check, bid bond, a certified check, or a bank draft in the sum of five percent of the amount bid, said deposit to be made payable to Reno County. The above required deposit will serve as a guarantee that he will file all bonds, or security in the form of a cashier's check; certified check; or bank draft in the sum of one hundred percent (100%) of the proposal amount, required and enter into the Contract, should it be awarded to him, according to the terms of his bid, within seven (7) days after the award of Contract. Should the Contractor fail to file approved surety bonds, or specified security, or enter into Contract with Reno County, Kansas, then the bid surety may be forfeited as liquidated damages, and the money realized therefrom be turned into the Reno County Treasurer. The work to be performed under this Contract shall be completed within two hundred and eighty (280) working days. This period of time will be counted as commencing with the date of issuance of a work order by the Reno County Public Works Director. Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays observed by the County shall be excluded in the counting of workdays. The Director will have authority to interrupt the work as provided in paragraph 1.22.4 of the General Specifications during which period days will not be counted. To accomplish this "Stop Work" and "Resume Work" orders will be given. The time of completion is an essential part of this Contract since the Owner will suffer additional expense for financing and administering the work if the work is not completed within the time limit specified above. Therefore, the Contractor shall reimburse the Owner, as liquidated damages, for said additional expense at IB-1 The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, to waive formalities in considering Bids and to accept the Bid which, in its opinion, is the best Bid.
