In general, the work comprises without limitation, furnishing all necessary labor, materials, equipment and other incidental and appurtenant work necessary to install new landscape planting in the medians along Hawthorne Boulevard between PVDW and Crest Road. In general, the work comprises of developing traffic control plans, SWPPP, removing existing asphalt, roots, soil and other vegetation in the medians along Hawthorne Boulevard; building a bio-swale with associated inlets, outlets, curb cuts, and piping; installing Palos Verdes rock boulders; installing landscape fabric and Black Mexican Beach Cobble; hauling off associated waste; planting of shrubs and trees; and a monthly 2-yr watering and maintenance task list. The quantity of work to be performed and materials to be furnished are approximate only, being given as a basis for the comparison of Bids. Actual quantities of work to be performed may vary at the discretion of the Director of Public Works. The work to be done shall include furnishing all materials, equipment, tools, labor, and incidentals as required by the Specifications, and Contract Documents, in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Anyone obtaining Contract Documents must immediately supply the Director of Public Works with a facsimile number and email address such that Addenda and other information may be transmitted as rapidly as possible. Failure to provide such a facsimile number and email address may result in late notification. In any case, City does not guarantee Addenda will be faxed or emailed, and Bidder shall be responsible for all Addenda regardless of whether Bidder received any such fax or email. Work shall be completed within eighty (80) working days following Notice to Proceed. The bidder must possess a current Class A Contractor's license issued by the California State License Board at the time of the Bid submission. No contract will be awarded to any bidder who is not a properly licensed California contractor as required by the California Business and Professions Code. The successful Contractor must also possess a current City business license. There is a Five Hundred Dollars ($500) per day assessment for liquidated damages for each calendar day that work remains incomplete beyond the time specified for the completion of the work. Refer to the bid specifications and contract documents for further details. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids or any parts thereof and waive any irregularities or informalities in any bid or in the bidding and to make awards in all or part in the best interest of the City. No bidder may withdraw his bid for a period of ninety (90) days after the date set for the opening bids.
