The proposed old town park is a vacant 0.82 acre lot adjacent to Leander city hall which has served the purpose of hosting the old town street festival in may along with the Leander Christmas festival and parade in December. Other events include movies in the park etc. Preliminary development of the park began with the stage (constructed in 2017). Currently, the site is not favorable to most public events due to lack of shade (minimum fees), lack of grass (no irrigation); no sitting areas; very few picnic tables; no trash can, etc. Current conditions are unattractive for old town business and residents including Leander city hall and Leander independent school district (LISD) administrative offices. Potential for positive economic impact in the old town district of our city including the beautification of the old town district. Project is included City of Leander FY 2022-2026 CIP. As of October 21, 2021, a design build firm has been awarded.
