As of July 23, 2024, information regarding the awarded general contractor has been disclosed. They will start work on the 10-year project and begin overseeing construction later this year. The second phase, which stretches from the Berryessa station through Downtown San Jose and into Santa Clara, finishes the remaining six miles and connects services to four additional stations that will be built. Phase II includes 28th Street/ Little Portugal Station, Downtown San Jose Station, Diridon Station, Santa Clara Station. The entire phase II expansion project spans six miles from the Berryessa Transit Center to the Santa Clara Station.
