Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; playground / park / athletic field; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; playground / park / athletic field; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

The City of Bowling Green received preliminary approval for a grant in the amount of $750,000 from the National Park Service and anticipate to receive those funds soon, with a $1.5M local match (budgeted in FY2021) from the City of Bowling Green for a total cost of $2.25M for Phase I design and initial construction, which could include the following improvements to Riverfront Park: 1) Pedestrian Bridge and paths $300,000 2) Restrooms $300,000 3) Fishing Platforms and Enhancements $136,000 4) Boulder Park $250,000 5) Disc Golf Equipment $20,000 6) Furnishings and other Improvements $289,200 7) Parking Lot Improvements $424,400 8) Construction & Engineering Costs $532,625 The Riverfront Development Project will breathe life into distressed park areas significantly underutilized due to a lack of amenities and safety concerns arising from steep terrain, absent lighting, natural vegetation seclusion, and reported crime. The project's boat ramp will improve search and rescue efforts within the Barren River while increasing safety of first responders. Furthermore, the project compliments the revitalization of the River Street corridor led by a grass roots effort poised to remove blight, attract new private investment, and increase jobs. Phase II funding includes another $5M to be appropriated over a three-year period to continue efforts to enhance the Park. As of August 14, 2023, this project is currently in City of Bowling Green FY 2023-2026 CIP. Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2023-26. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
