The proposed project will replace existing sidewalks on the east side of James Brown Boulevard (9th Street) in the city of Augusta. The project limits begin at Twiggs Street & end at Laney Walker Boulevard. Existing sidewalks on the east side of James Brown Boulevard need to be replaced & meet Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Pedestrian lighting will be installed. Striping will be revised to provide one travel lane in each direction with a northbound bike lane & parallel parking lane. All work is anticipated within the existing right-of-way (ROW) with the possibility of some areas of temporary easement for construction. ROW will be acquired at the request of Augusta Engineering for two small areas at the corners of Spruce Street & Laney Walker Blvd to allow for proper sight angles & to incorporate the area where an existing signal pole & traffic box already exist.
