As of June 29, 2022 a consultant has been selected for the project. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: The objective of this project is to create a master plan for the Buford Highway Corridor within the confines of the City of Norcross. Buford Highway is a regional transportation route more fully known as US Hwy 23. It is 1.85 linear miles in length within the City with roughly 30,000 average daily trips and serves as a prominent gateway into Norcross. It is also a target area for reinvestment and future growth in the City's 2040 Imagine Our Future Comprehensive Plan (see Exhibit 1 in RFP). Both the City's new Comprehensive Plan and new Unified Development Ordinance should be heavily relied upon to inform the Buford Highway Master Plan. The Master Plan must meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs, and must be sustainable. The planning consultant must work in a cohesive and coordinated manner with the Mayor, City Manager, Council Members, Planning & Zoning Board, Downtown Development Authority, City Staff and other Boards and identified stakeholders and partners. The planning consultant will help channel public participation into realistic alternatives for consideration by the public and other stakeholders. All questions/requests must be submitted via e-mail prior to March 9, 2020. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
