The proposed UNC S-1 Parking Deck is being planned in conjunction with a new Central Generator Plant and Electrical Modernization project for the UNC Medical Center (see SCO project #18-19904-01A). The combined project will be located on the existing UNC S-1 surface parking lot and is anticipated that the deck will provide a minimum of 450 parking spaces. The UNCMC CGP/Electrical Modernization project has been undertaken to provide new emergency power supply system, appropriately sized to serve the full electrical requirements for UNC Hospitals. This system will include a new Central Generator Plant (CGP), fuel storage facility, underground electrical distribution to main electrical rooms and renovation of existing electrical rooms within the Hospital to meet new code requirements.
