Scope of Work: Improvements to existing tennis center and addition of new team facility space containing locker rooms, bathrooms, lounge & training areas, and storage. As of May 6, 2024, this project has been abandoned. *The original solicitation is listed below for reference. --- The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals for the purposes of entering into a contract through competitive negotiations for the professional services of an Architectural/Engineering firm, authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Virginia, with experience in the planning, and design of Virginia Tech is seeking an Architectural/Engineering firm to provide full design services to include, but not necessarily be limited to Pre-Planning Studies, Schematic Design, Preliminary Design, Working Drawings Bid Support, and Construction Administration for the project. The University envisions using the design-bid-build method of construction delivery as well as engaging an independent Commissioning Agent to participate in the design and construction of this project. Sustainability shall be embraced in all aspects of design. Firms responding to this RFP will be required to demonstrate experience with the US Green Building Council’s LEED certification process and assign to the project team a LEED accredited professional in each major design discipline. It is the intent of Virginia Tech to seek “LEED Silver” certification. This project is a new addition and limited renovation to the 6-court indoor tennis facility, Burrows Burleson Tennis Center, at Virginia Tech’s main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. The primary objectives of this project are to develop an approximately 7,000 gross square foot new addition for clubhouse and administrative spaces to support Women’s and Men’s Varsity Tennis Teams. And to integrate that addition into the existing Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center and site through limited renovation.
