Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Victoria, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 23,573-square-foot, two-story above grade fire / police facility.

The Project consists of the sequential demolition of the existing, 3800 sq.ft. building, housing two (2) suppression apparatus buildings, and redeveloping into a two (2) storey post-disaster 23,573 sq.ft. structure to accommodate eight (8) apparatus and emergency vehicles. Fire Station #2 was built in 1978 at the corner intersection of Elk Lake and Royal Oak Drives (street address: 4595 Elk Lake Dr.). Future accommodation, in the proposed design, allows for an additional 4-person crew to the existing 4-person crew staffed full time. The new facility will incorporate: a) Five (5) apparatus bays in the centre of the building that will accommodate eight (8) vehicles, two (2) which are suppression crew vehicles in use in the existing facility, the other three (3) bays being for tandem storage of various Saanich Fire Department (SFD) vehicles and equipment. b) A community meeting room for up to 30 individuals adjacent to the ground floor front entry, to be made available to various external groups for meetings. c) Significant exterior and interior areas dedicated to SFD training. The interior training room located at the eastern side of the facility is a new program opportunity that will support the SFD's classroom training. d) The project is targeting LEED Gold certification at minimum, Energy Step Code Level 2, CaGBC Zero Carbon, Wood-First mass timbre construction, and Net-Zero energy consumption.
