Demolition, site work, paving, new construction and renovation of a bridge / tunnel in Strongsville, Ohio. Working plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

This PROJECT consists of the replacement of the superstructure and wood covering of the Whitney Road bridge over East Branch of Rocky River, including minimal replacement of approach pavement, sidewalks, and traffic control. The Engineer's Estimate for this PROJECT is $ 1,800,794.50 Each BID must contain the full name or names of the interested parties, and in the case of a corporation not chartered in Ohio, with a proper certificate that such corporation is authorized to do business in Ohio, and be accompanied by a BID BOND in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the amount BID issued by a surety company licensed in the State of Ohio or a certified check or cashier's check on a solvent bank made payable to the order of the City of Strongsville, Ohio, in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total amount of the BID. The BID check or BID bond, as the case may be, will be held as a guarantee that, if the BID proposal is accepted, a contract will be entered into between the BIDDER and the City of Strongsville, Ohio. The price of material and labor bid shall be separately stated. BIDDERS must use the printed forms and bid forms available as aforesaid, as none other will be accepted. Each BIDDER must submit evidence of its experiences on projects of similar size and complexity. A BIDDER/CONTRACTOR will be deemed committed to the Department of Labor's goals and timetables for the Cleveland, Ohio area as specified in the Notice of Requirements for Affirmative Action to ensure Equal Employment Opportunity (Executive Order 11246 by submitting a properly signed bid). CONTRACTOR compliance with the equal employment opportunity requirements of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, the Governor's Executive Order of 1972, and Governor's Executive Order 84-9 shall be required. Bidders must comply with the prevailing wage rates as determined by the Secretary of Labor in accordance with Federal-Aid requirements. Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Requirement. DBE participation goals (subcontracts, materials, supplies) have been set on this project for those certified as DBEs pursuant to Title 23, U.S.C. section 140(c) and 49 CFR, Part 26, and where applicable qualified to bid with ODOT under Chapter 5525 of the ORC. The DBE Goal for this project is 8%. Only ODOT prequalified Contractors are eligible to submit bids for this project. All Bidders are reminded to follow LPA proposal note 13 as outlined in the ODOT LPA bid document template with regard to the submittal of the DBE utilization plan at the time of bidding. Each BIDDER must insure that all employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, creed, color, sex, age, gender, physical disability or national origin. The Council of the City of Strongsville, Ohio reserves the right to reject any and all BIDS, to waive any informalities in the BIDS received, and to accept any BID which it deems most favorable to the City. The City of Strongsville is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
