The capital improvement plan, or CIP, details capital investments for the next five years that will help the city achieve its strategic goals. Items in the plan cost at least $5,000 and are useful for more than one year. Among the items are ways to handle PFAS in the water, new electric buses, squad cars and fire trucks, new water features for Fairfax Pool like a splash pad, and many, many more items. The five-year plan has a total dollar amount of more than $219 million. The council will vote on Tuesday, and a public hearing on the plan is scheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As of August 11, 2021, this solicitation has been cancelled. The City of Eau Claire is seeking A/E Design Services for Fairfax Pool Water Play Feature. The planning and preparation of plans and construction specifications, along with contract administration is anticipated to include the following major task: Add a water play feature/attraction to the area of the pool that is most cost effective while maintaining optimal levels of safety. Fairfax Park Pool is located at 4200 Fairfax Street and has been open to the public since 1991. It includes a main pool, a diving pool, a concession stand, a children's playground, a picnic pavilion and a bathhouse. The bathhouse was renovated in 2013 to include a newly designed front desk area and two new family changing rooms and then again in 2018 with the addition of a first aid room and expanded manager's office. The pool has been improved over the years to accommodate an annual attendance between 60,000-80,000 people in a 14-week season. In order to keep Fairfax Pool an exciting family destination a new water attraction is needed. The consultant will be expected to provide professional engineering and environmental services necessary to complete the following general tasks. The City has $120,000 budgeted for the entire project including design and construction.
