Site work for a water / sewer project in Ankeny, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Complete a siting study to determine alternatives and the preferred location for a new 2.0 MGD Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) and associated water main for connecting it to the distribution system. An option will be considered to further increase use of this ASR. The design will include flexibility to increase the capacity to approximately 3.0 MGD. The project will also include land acquisition (if necessary) and design and construction of the ASR and water main connection. The purpose of this project is to replace the existing ASR No. 1 on SW Elm Street. Additional supply capacity is needed to meet high water demand periods, existing ASR No. 1 is reaching the end of its useful life, and it will take a few years of operation to get a recovery rate of 85% or better at the new site. As of July 12, 2023, the project is currently under construction; however, the firm construction and completion timelines was not disclosed.
