Renovation of a conference / convention center in Roscommon, Michigan. Design plans call for the renovation of a conference / convention center.
Located on the northern shore of Higgins Lake, the Ralph A. MacMullan (RAM) Conference Center is available for nonprofit, government, and education-based organizations, as well as private businesses with an outdoor or green themed agenda. There is lodging available for up to 135 participants (double occupancy) in rustic lodges, and there are several large conference spaces that can accommodate up to 250 guests, as well as several smaller meeting spaces for a more intimate group setting. The Resource Center is the primary hub of the RAM Center and serves as the primary location to access visitor services. Visitors use the Resource Center for registration / check - in upon arrival and it is the primary location for dining. In addition, a lounge with a stone fireplace is provided that can be used either as a meeting space for up to 60 people or an after-hours space for social gatherings. The Resource Center also contains a kitchen, freezer, food storage and staff space essential for employees and the operations of the RAM Center as a whole. The Resource Building needs improvements to increase the functional efficiencies for staff and visitors alike. Currently, the check in counter is not easily visible upon entering the building and occasionally causes confusion especially for new guests. The existing dining room has a seating capacity for 160 persons, while the conference center accommodates up to 288 persons. This requires larger groups to dine in shifts, causing inefficiencies for both guests and staff during large conferences. Food is typically served buffet style but due to the limited space in the dining area, congestion typically occurs around the buffet line which is within the circulation path to the dining areas seating. Also, the existing kitchen layout and staff work areas are not functional and in need of major improvements. The current layout does not provide an efficient setup for food preparation, cooking and cleaning of the dishes. In addition, the majority of the appliances and service stations are out of date and in need of replacement. The design services shall have a primary emphasis on functional efficiencies throughout the building. This shall include, but not limited to the dining room, kitchen, front desk, entry / lobby, and recreation room. The project can be phased, based on the consultants recommendations and available budget. A project construction budget has not been determined. Phase 400 work completion by October 12, 2021 The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time. Accepting RFP Questions Until::Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 12:00 p.m., EDT.
