Paving for a road / highway in Oshawa, Ontario. Design plans call for paving for a road / highway.
Phase 1 will include the widening of Stevenson Rd (Regional Road 53) from 4 to 5 lanes, from CPR Bellville (south of Gibb St) to Bond St (1.2 km). Phase 2 will include the widening of Stevenson Rd from 3/4 lanes to 5 lanes, from Bond St to Rossland Rd (2 km). Project will impact utilities, relocation will be made as well as property acquisitions. Intersection improvements at Gibb St, Adelaide Ave & Annapolis St and guide rail upgrades. TIMELINE: The Environmental Assessment is complete & notice of completion was issued May 8, 2024. Based on the evaluation of design alternatives, and considering stakeholder input, the preferred design includes reconstruction and widening Stevenson Road to include a continuous centre left turn lane from Gibb Street to Rossland Road, geometric and turning lane modifications at the Gibb Street, King Street, Bond Street, Adelaide Avenue and Annapolis Avenue intersections with Stevenson Road, and rehabilitating and extending the existing Goodman Creek culverts with local channel improvements. Construction is not expected before 2028.
