As of May 14, 2021, this project has been awarded to Gulf Stream Construction Company for $5,265,210.29. The City of Charleston (City) is accepting Bids for construction services for the Huger Street and King Street Intersection Drainage Improvements Project. The Work will include the replacement and installation of approximately 1,260 LF of storm drainage pipe varying from 15-in to 48-in diameter, installation of approximately 1,100 LF of replacement DIP water main varying from 6-in to 12-in in diameter with associated appurtenances, connections, and tie-in to existing water mains, installing approximately 30 drainage structures, asphalt replacement, asphalt mill and overlay, concrete curb and granite curb replacement, and approximately 420 SY of sidewalk replacement at and near the intersection of Huger St. and King St. The Work also includes traffic control, fence removal and reinstallation, vegetation and plant protection/temporary relocation, removal and replacement of drainage infrastructure, and relocation or replacement of other infrastructure as shown in the drawings. The Contractor shall be able to meet the minimum requirements established in the Bid Documents in order to qualify. The City will receive sealed Bids from qualified Contractors until 4:00 pm (local time), December 10, 2020 at the Department of Stormwater Management, 2 George St, Suite 2100, Charleston, SC 29401. Please note due to COVID-19, public access to City offices may be restricted. Contractors interested in hand-delivering Bids should contact Joseph Swaim in a timely manner to make an informed decision on submitting a Bid. Additionally, for public health and safety, the Bids will be opened in private by a committee of a minimum of four witnesses.
