Site work, paving and renovation of a civil project in Liberal, Kansas. Completed plans call for the renovation of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
1. The party to whom the Contract is awarded, shall submit payment and performance bonds prior to beginning work. 2. All work shall be completed by October 15, 2020. 3. Failure to complete the work by this date shall result in an assessment of liquidated damages in the amount of $500.00 per day, until the project is completed to the satisfaction of the Owner. 4. Milled material shall become property of the Contractor. Bid Acknowledgements and Requirements. 1. The Bidder must be capable performing work in a manner that meets the requirements as specified by the Standard Specifications of the Kansas Department of Transportation. 2. Upon acceptance of the Bid, the Bidder shall enter into an Agreement with the Owner to complete the work as specified in the Bid Documents and at the prices as submitted within this Bid Form. 3. This Bid shall be valid for 60 days following the Bid Date and shall remain valid for a longer period as agreed upon in writing between the Owner and the Bidder. 4. A bid bond or a certified check in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total amount Bid is required. The bid bond or certified check shall be submitted with the Bid. Failure to submit bid security will result in an unqualified Bid. 5. Seward County reserves the right to award or reject any and all Bids. 6. This project is sales tax exempt. Asphalt Mix Requirements The intention of Seward County is as follows: 1. Mill and overlay approximately 7,900 miles of Road 3 (2nd Street Rd) 2. Utilize 40 percent of recycled asphalt in a SR-12.5A hot mix asphalt The successful Bidder shall furnish a superpave lab and perform volumetric testing on every 750 tons of mix produced and placed. The asphalt mixture requirements shall be based on the latest KDOT specifications for SR-12.5A with the following clarifications and modifications: 1. Liquid asphalt used in production of the mix shall be PG 58-28. 2. Compaction revolutions shall be 7-75-115. 3. Target air voids for the mix shall be 3.0% at N design gyrations. 4. The minimum liquid asphalt content of the mix shall be 4.7%, 5. Field tests shall have a minimum VMA of 13.0. The contractor may use either milled material from the project or may use recycled asphalt of his own origination. Regardless of the RAP source, the project must be milled as specified.
