The City of Danville is soliciting proposals to provide all materials, labor, equipment, supervision and incidentals for a sewer line installation adjacent to 489 Granville Drive. Install approximately 90 linear foot of 8” diameter SDR-35 sewer line. Two (2) manholes must be installed on grade as specified by the engineer. Contractor must install approximately 30’ of 4” PVC or SDR sewer lateral with a clean out at the property line of 489 Granville Drive. All installation must be performed to specifications (see Attachment A). Line must be laid on a 2% grade. Location map is attached to this document. The City reserves the right to reject any or all offers and to waive informalities and minor irregularities in offers received. General Construction Sequence: • Mobilize personnel, materials and equipment. • Set up traffic control in accordance with the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual. Note that the proposed traffic control layout must be approved by the Danville City Engineer, or his designee, before implementation. One lane must be open at all times. Traffic control may be left in place until the project is complete. • Saw cut asphalt. • Excavate material in regard with proper trenching techniques utilized. Place geotextile fabric. • Set manhole at existing end of line. • Install 90’ of 8” diameter SDR-35 pipe at 2% using approved bedding and backfill. • Install second manhole. • Install 4” sewer lateral with cleanout. • All backfill in the street shall be 21A stone. Compaction shall be in 6’ lifts and compaction testing in the road is required by the contractor. • Install base asphalt BM-25 and surface asphalt SM-9.5A asphalt to specified thickness. All completed asphalt patching shall be clean, straight edges. • Reseed yard. • Remove all equipment, excess materials, vehicles and traffic control upon completion. Submittals Prior to the start of work the contractor shall submit the following for approval: • Proposed Traffic Control layout (can be sketch) • Pipe manufacturer cut sheet for mainline and lateral piping, and cleanout components, with recommended bedding requirements. • Manhole shop drawings that include proposed elevations and angles. Completion time: Work is to be completed within 20 calendar days from the documented date of the traffic control being set up. The city reserves the right to charge liquidated damages of $100.00 for each day after the 20 days. Additional time may be granted if deemed appropriate by the city due to weather, unforeseen conditions or special circumstances.
