The intent of this contract is the repair of a radio tower which the City of Springfield, Office of Public Utilities, City Water, Light & Power owns and operates. The tower is a 200 guyed tower at 2900 Stevenson Drive. The tower base and guy system are in need of repair/replacement to ensure the continued safe operation of the tower. No bids will be accepted subsequent to the bid opening. The City reserves the right to accept or reject any/and all bids. A prospective bidder, who is in doubt as the meaning of any part of the Contract Documents, or of any addenda, may submit to the Purchasing Agent a written request for interpretation. Any questions or clarification requests must be received by the Office of the Purchasing Agent at least 10 days prior to the bid opening date. All Contracts for the construction of public works are subject to the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act. Female and Minority Business Enterprises are encouraged to submit bids for this Contract. The City Purchasing Agent may require Contractors to furnish a satisfactory performance bond and a bond for the payment of all materials used and for all labor performed in such work with good and sufficient sureties in amounts up to one hundred percent of the contract sum. In such case the Contractor shall also include in the bond a provision guaranteeing the faithful performance of any prevailing wage requirement.
