This project will construct a new, 5-story addition to the existing UTHSC Dunn Dental Building, as well as some renovation to the existing, 5- story building. The addition will contain 68,264 square feet, while the current building contains 123,812 sf. Substantial demolition of building & all utilities will be required along the North and West sides of the existing building. The new addition will house dental clinics on the ground floor, simulation dental labs, classrooms and seminar rooms on floors 3-4, and Administration offices on the 5th floor. The basement level will tie into the existing level & tunnel that extends underneath Union Avenue. The Addition will be sprinklered, with structure fire protected per Construction Type. This project will require extensive construction sequencing to allow for continued operation of the existing building by both students and public patients. Site access, security and construction coordination will be required to follow the sequencing plans contained in the Construction Documents.
