Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Humboldt, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
The Board of Education of the Humboldt Community School District will receive sealed bids for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment and performing all work necessary for the construction of the HHS Parking Lot Replacement Project. Bids will be received for General Construction including Electrical. The cost for the Work shall be included in a single lump-sum bid. Bids for portions of the Work will not be accepted. The General Contractor will be responsible for coordinating all Work. The Work will include, but is not limited to the following improvements: Demolition of the existing parking lot paving west of the high school including existing selected perimeter sidewalks, overhead utilities, site lighting with associated circuiting, and storm water drainage piping and inlets. Construction of new paved parking lot, drives, sidewalks, storm water drainage system, parking lot lighting, and other site improvements. The Project is anticipated to start on June 22, 2020 following the Owner's receipt and approval of required insurance and bonds. The Project shall achieve Substantial Completion on or before August 14, 2020. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the Architect and must be accompanied by a certified check or cashier's check drawn on an Iowa bank or a bank chartered under the Laws of the United States, or a Bid Bond to be executed by a corporation authorized to contract as a surety in the State of Iowa, in the amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the base bid, made payable to the Treasurer of the Humboldt Community School District. The five percent (5%) amount may be cashed by the Owner as liquidated damages in the event that the successful bidder fails to enter into a Contract and file a bond satisfactory to the Board of Education assuring the faithful fulfillment of the Contract and maintenance of said improvements as required by the law, the provisions of this Notice and the Contract Documents within ten (10) days after acceptance of the lowest responsible bid. All bids shall be sealed and plainly marked. Any alteration of the Bid Form may be cause for rejection of the bid. Bid Security of the two lowest Bidders will be retained until the contract has been awarded and executed, but no longer than 30 days. Bids will be required to be submitted under condition of irrevocability for a period of 30 days after submission. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Sum, issued by a responsible Surety approved by the Board of Education and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract and terms and conditions therein contained and the maintenance of said improvements pursuant to the provisions of the Contract Document. Any Bidder, upon returning the documents in good condition with 10 days of the public opening of bids, shall be returned the deposit in full. The Board of Education reserves the right to accept or reject any or all Bids and waive informalities in Bidding.
