New construction of a mixed-use development in Toronto, Ontario. Design plans call for the construction of a multi-residential development; library; and retail development.
Redevelopment of 1627 and 1675 Danforth Ave which currently accommodate the Danforth-Coxwell Public Library and the Toronto Transit Commission Danforth Garage facility has been identified as an opportunity to explore public and private opportunities and partnerships for the development of Parcels A, B, C and F. The site is listed on the City of Toronto Heritage Register. Scope of work would include a multi-phased mixed-use development. TIMELINE: Project is conceptual only. CreateTO is working with the Housing Now initiative to develop this site; scope of work has yet to be finalized. The property is currently being used for TTC-related uses; scope of work has yet to be finalized. A Request for Proposals from developers for this site will be issued pending owner's decision to proceed. Site plan submission to the city is expected when a developer is secured. Per the city's most recent Toronto Builds report, the construction is scheduled for 2028 and beyond. Further update late 2026 / early 2027. *Construction cost will be finalized as the scope of work is determined.
