Site work for a water / sewer project in San Francisco, California. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission ("SFPUC") is issuing this Request for Qualifications ("RFQ") in search of candidates with the qualifications specified in this RFQ to be qualified to respond to the forthcoming Request for Bids to construct the Wawona Area Stormwater Improvement and Vicente St. Water Main Replacement Project ("Project"). ESTIMATED COST$30,000,000 to $40,000,000 A "Candidate" is any entity responding to this RFQ. The objective of the project is to minimize flooding and manage stormwater at the Wawona St. neighborhood close to 15th Ave. The intersection of 15th and Wawona has experienced combined sewer flooding during past storm events. This intersection is lower in elevation than the surrounding areas and the upstream surface topography and tributary sewers follow a steep gradient toward the intersection. When large storms occur, the sewers fill to capacity and excess stormwater runoff cannot enter the system or combined sewer flows surcharge from the system, resulting in overland flows. These excess overland flows travel downstream and reach the intersection, resulting in ponding water on adjacent properties. This project will divert combined sewer flows from the existing sewer on Wawona Street at the intersection of Vicente Street to maintain capacity in the existing downstream sewer along Wawona Street for the local stormwater runoff. The flows will be diverted into a new sewer pipe along Vicente Street, which connects to the existing system on 34th St. In addition to sewer work, the aging water mains and its appurtenances will be replaced on Vicente St., between 19th Ave and 34th Ave. The SFPUC seeks to qualify contractors with demonstrated experience and qualifications in construction of sewer mains, mains by cut/cover and tunneling methods, underground concrete junction structures, water mains, restoration of street base and paving. SFPUC will determine whether a Candidate has such qualifications through the evaluation process described in this RFQ. Candidates chosen through this process will be "Qualified Contractors." SPFUC will notify Qualified Contractors of their eligibility to submit bids for construction services associated with the project. Candidates responding to this RFQ do so with the understanding that the SFPUC does not guarantee the award of any contract or work as a result of qualification. There will be no pre-submittal conference pertaining to this Request for Qualifications. Shortlist Confirmed.
