**As of November 17, 2020, the anticipated construction start date is November 15, 2020 but it is suspended and still under discussion. Construction dates will be discussed by November 18, 2020 meeting. The City of Anniston, Alabama will receive sealed bids for Renovations to the Glen Addie Community Center the located at 426 Mulberry Avenue in Anniston, Alabama. The Work consists of renovations, alterations, and minor improvements to the existing Community Center. Rework the toilets and paint the interior. Replace the roof on the support area. Replace gutters and down spouts on the sloped metal roof. A more detailed description of the work and other requirements, provisions, specifications and instructions to bidders, contract forms, bid requirements, insurance, and other documents related to the project will be set forth in the project manual and deemed a part of this notice. For any proposals greater than $100,000.00, a bid bond will be required at the time of bid and a performance bond or letter of credit will be required prior to contract award. All bids will be on a lump sum basis by item and will include, but not be limited to, all labor and materials for the entire scope - (unless specifically noted otherwise). Only general contractors with five (5) years verifiable experience in general construction may bid this Work. All contracts will be with City of Anniston. All inquiries regarding the Bid Documents should be directed to the Dorsey Architects Associates, Inc., 2301 1st Avenue North, Suite 101, Birmingham, Alabama 35203, Phone: 205.250.7100, FAX: 205.250.7105. All bids in excess of $100,000.00 must be accompanied by a certified check payable to the order of the City of Anniston amounting to five percent 5% of the bid, or by a bid bond in said amount payable to same. The check must be drawn on a solvent bank or trust company, and made payable without condition. The bid bond must be that of an approved surety authorized to do business in the State of Alabama, holding certificates of authority as an acceptable surety and has an agent in the State of Alabama, located in not more than one hundred (100) miles from the City of Anniston, Alabama, upon whom service or process can be made. At the option of the City of Anniston, bids may be held for a period not to thirty (30) calendar days from the receipt of bids. The certified check or bid bond shall be held as a guarantee that in the event the bid is accepted and a contract is awarded, the successful bidder, immediately after the date of the award, will duly execute the Contract and properly secure the required insurance and performance, labor, material, and maintenance bond(s). Failure to execute the Contract or secure proper bond(s) and insurance will be sufficient cause for forfeiting the check to the City of Anniston, as liquidated damages, or in the case of a bid bond, the stipulated sum shall be immediately payable to the City of Anniston as liquidated damages. Said bond(s) shall remain in full force and effect for twelve (12) months from the date of final acceptance of the work. Each bidder who is a foreign corporation, that is, a corporation not chartered under the laws of the State of Alabama, but licensed to do business in the State of Alabama, must submit with his bid an affidavit duly executed by the president, vice president, or general manager of the corporation, stating that said corporation has, in accordance with the laws of the State of Alabama, obtained a certificate authorizing it to do business in the State of Alabama. The City of Anniston reserves the right to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bidding and bid documents and to reject any and all bids. Unless all bids are rejected, an award or awards will be made to the most responsive and responsible bidder(s) for all work on the project.
