Site work, paving and renovation of a mixed-use development in Berkley, Michigan. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; for site work for a playground / park / athletic field; road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.
Bidders shall review and comply with the Instructions to Bidders, which are incorporated by reference, and carefully review all Contract Documents, as defined in the Instructions to Bidders. Bids submitted after the exact time specified for, receipt will not be considered. The Contracts will consist of the following principal items of work and appurtenances as specified herein and shown on the Contract Drawings. The project consists of four (4) divisions. Division I includes work that will be partially paid for by a State DNR grant, including the porous HMA pathway from Bacon Ave to the SplashPad and the restrooms. Division II contains work to be completed along with Division I which will not be paid for by the DNR grant, including the playground, concrete seating area and furniture, additional HMA sidewalk, the access road from Cambridge Ave, and a new sidewalk ramp at Bacon Ave. Division III includes additional HMA sidewalk construction around the perimeter of the park and connecting to Oxford Rd. Division IV includes new parking areas on both Cambridge Ave and Oxford Rd, along with sidewalk to those areas. Divisions III and IV consist of potential additional items that may be constructed in conjunction with Divisions I and II if funds allow. State or federal funds are being used to assist in construction and relevant State or federal requirements will apply. The contractor and any subcontractors are not to discriminate against an employee or applicant for employment with respect to hire, tenure, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, or a matter directly or indirectly related to employment, because of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, marital status or a disability that is unrelated to the individuals ability to perform the duties of a particular job or position. Each bidder agrees to waive any claim it has or may have against the Owner, the Architect/Engineer, and their respective employees, arising out of or in connection with the administration, evaluation, or recommendation of any bid. Each bid proposal shall be submitted on the proposal forms provided and shall be accompanied by an electronic copy of a certified check, cashier's check or bid bond, executed by the bidder and Surety Company, payable to the City of Berkley in the amount of Five Percent (5%) of the accompanying bid. Proposal Guarantee shall provide assurance that the bidder will, upon acceptance of the bid, execute the necessary Contract with the City of Berkley. No bid may be withdrawn after scheduled closing time for receiving bids for at least sixty (60) days. The successful bidder will be required to furnish satisfactory Performance, Labor and Material, and Maintenance and Guarantee Bonds. Responses to all questions and alternate requests will be issued to bidders no later than 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. The Owner reserves the right to accept any Proposal, to reject any or all Proposals, and to waive any defects or irregularity in the Proposal if it appears advantageous to the Owner to do so.
