Renovation of a medical facility in Cambridge, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.
Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH) has made a decision to build a new production kitchen as it currently operates out of a 43-year-old kitchen which is double the size required. The current kitchen is not properly designed to meet the current preparation, technology and processes that are followed by staff. This compromises CMH's ability to affect any operational efficiency, achieve proper production flow or implement any further efficiency throughout the entire food service process. Aging infrastructure is starting to compromise food delivery protocols. As a result, the existing kitchen requires a significant investment in upgrading the mechanical, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems. In addition, asbestos abatement, equipment replacement and architectural finishes all need to be addressed. The new kitchen project Response consists of an interior renovation and fit-out of existing space in C Wing. Construction will include complete demolition with asbestos abatement of existing space, new layout for the proposed kitchen/office area, new food service equipment and upgrades and installation of new mechanical and electrical systems. Currently, the area of renovation stands at a proposed gross floor area of 6,266 square feet (582 square meters). CMH's estimated construction cost range is $2.5-$3 million. *Award amount was not released for publication. *Work is complete.
