Site work and new construction of a mixed-use development in Montreal, Quebec. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a clubhouse / community center; educational facility; for site work for a clubhouse / community center; and educational facility.
Construction of an elementary school Jules-Poitras and Community Hub on a vacant 15,500 m2 lot acquired by Saint-Laurent. The owner expects that additional 8,000 m2 of space to the north of this site also owned by the Borough may be also used for the project. Based on a common vision, the project submitted consists of a 6-18 elementary school, social, community, sports and recreational spaces, including a social pediatrics centre, a teen zone and spaces shared between the Borough and the Centre de services scolaire. Residents and students would be able to benefit from a gymnasium, a library, an outdoor soccer field, a schoolyard and a parking lot. Scope of work, budget and timelines of the project development are not finalized. TIMELINE: Due to funding constraints and the need to make 200-million-dollar budget compression to the school funding system and following the respective decision of the Quebec government, the Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Centre put this project on hold in 2023 for an indefinite period. It is not determined now if/when the project may proceed to a design and construction stage. Coverage of this report has been discontinued.
