Site work, paving and new construction of a mixed-use development in Fairfield, Iowa. Completed plans call for the construction of a fire / police facility; for site work for a fire / police facility; sidewalk / parking lot; water / sewer project; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.
The Project consists of the construction of a new fire station. The fire station will include features such as offices, dorm rooms, multi-purpose room, day room/living spaces, firefighting apparatus bay, decontamination area, training tower, exercise room, and storage spaces. A portion of the building shall be constructed as an ICC-500 storm shelter. Scope for the project will include, but is not necessarily limited to, the following: earthwork, grading, utilities, plantings/landscaping, concrete paving, sitecast concrete, precast concrete, masonry (brick veneer), structural steel framing, steel joists, steel decking, metal stairs, metal grating, steel stud framing, gypsum sheathing, fiber cement siding, insulation, insulated metal wall panels, insulated metal roof panels, roof membrane, doors and frames (wood, hollow metal, and aluminum storefronts), door hardware, windows/glazing, carpet tile, LVT, ceramic tile, epoxy flooring, paint, vinyl graphics, interior and exterior signage, casework and countertops, specialty equipment, fire protection, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, communications, and access control. Work on the Project shall commence on January 14, 2025 and shall be substantially complete by April 3, 2026. Doc Note - There is no charge for bidding documents provided in Adobe PDF format. Technical questions regarding interpretations of the bidding documents shall be directed via email to Amanda Springer of Klingner & Associates, P.C. at aspringer@klingner.com, not City Blue Technologies. A full paper copy set of plans and specifications will be available starting at October 17, 2024, 3:00 p.m. for review by prospective bidders by appointment at the offices of Klingner & Associates, P.C., 610 N. 4th Street, Ste 100, Burlington, Iowa 52601, and at Fairfield City Hall, City of Fairfield, 118 S. Main St., Fairfield, Iowa 52556. Each bid shall be made on a form furnished by the Architect/Engineer and shall be sealed in an envelope. The bid bond/bid security shall be five (5) percent and submitted in a separate envelope. The bidder's security shall be in the form of a cashier's check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a Bid Bond on the form provided in the Contract Documents with corporate Surety satisfactory to the City Council of the City of Fairfield. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Bid security shall be made payable to the City of Fairfield. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond both in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the total amount payable by the terms of the Contract and in accordance with other requirements outlined in the Bid Documents. These Bonds will be required of the Contractor, within ten (10) days of the issuance of the "Notice of Intent to Award".
