As of January 27, 2022, this project started construction this week and is now underway. Joint Venture is known as 'American River Constructors'. The Project is located on State Route 51, in the City of Sacramento from postmile 2.0 to 3.5. This Project proposes to rehabilitate the American River Bridge (Br. No. 24-0003) by removing and replacing the existing concrete deck, removing and replacing the steel girder post-tensioning systems in spans 1 and 2, installing sheet piling around piers for scour mitigation, constructing concrete catcher blocks, and widening the bridge superstructure to accommodate traffic during construction. It also proposes to further widen the bridge superstructure to add a Class I bike/pedestrian path and widen the bridge substructure to accommodate the future widening of State Route (SR) 51.
