Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Lowell, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

The Newhall Street Bridge project consists of sidewalk replacements, concrete deck repairs, and traffic and pedestrian safety improvements including new BR-2 traffic barriers and ornamental handrails on the sidewalk Contractor Qualification Highway Division Construction Participation: MBEs (4.2%) and WBEs (8.8%) The work under this Contract consists of the rehabilitation of the Newhall Street Bridge over River Meadow Brook. The existing bridge has noted deficiencies such as failing approach sidewalk and underlying wingwall, deteriorated concrete deck and sidewalks, lack of traffic safety barriers, failing pedestrian safety features, failing asphaltic wearing surface on the bridge and approach roadways, and lack of bridge expansion joints. The proposed work will correct all the noted deficiencies. The plans call for repairs to approach sidewalks and wingwalls, localized concrete deck repairs, new concrete sidewalks, implementation of traffic safety barriers, pedestrian railing improvements, new asphaltic wearing surface, and implementation of bridge expansion joints. This work includes bridge construction, HMA full depth pavement construction, granite curb, concrete approach sidewalks, roadway approaches, temporary traffic control (road closure and detour signage), chain-link fence, adjusting drainage structures, and other incidental work. All work shall take place between the hours of 7:00AM and 3:30PM unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. This work shall be bid on a lump sum basis. The Contract unit price shall include all labor, materials, equipment, and incidental costs required to complete the work. A separate allowance for police details has also been included in the contract. *This project timeline has been extended due to the public health crisis.
