Demolition and site work for an educational facility in Tabor City, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the demolition of a educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
Major project elements include abatement of materials reported in the attached materials investigation report and demolition of all existing buildings on the site (except the historic one room schoolhouse that is fenced separately). The southwest classroom and cafeteria building will be used by the owner during construction and will be removed in the contract after the school building is accepted for occupancy. The building pad will require substantial soils remediation immediately following the demolition phase, owing to the liquefaction potential of the site. The process is described in these contract documents. The general scope of soils remediation includes removal of unsuitable soils within and adjacent to the building pad, installing earthquake drains across this area, surcharging the area with suitable soils to a specified depth, allowing the soils to subside until they will support the building foundation. Removal of excess soil will be under a separate contract.
