Site work and new construction of a water / sewer project in Gilroy, California. Working plans call for the construction of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
**As of October 13, 2020, bids were rejected. No definite date for the rebid.** This project consists of construction of and retrofit of an existing a one-story administration building to a maintenance building with miscellaneous functional structures, yard piping, paving and site work needed to provide a complete project. The new facilities will provide much needed space for maintenance functions the SCRWA Wastewater Treatment Plant. Furnishing all labor and materials, equipment, and performing all work necessary and incidental to the construction of the project known as New Maintenance Facility Project No. 19- SCRWA-254, as shown on the plans and described in this Project is to be completed within 252 working days from the date specified in the Notice to Proceed. Time for commencement and completion of the work is important, and is to be of the essence of the Contract. The facility bathroom will not be open to prospective bidders and SCRWA is not responsible for supplying PPE, and prospective bidders will not be allowed to attend the bid opening or job site visit if they fail to supply and wear the required PPE. Although the job site visit is not mandatory, no allowance will be made for any unfavorable conditions or events which might have been foreseen from a thorough examination of the site by the Contractor. No other job site visits will be scheduled. Bidding procedures are prescribed in the Project Manual. Bids shall be executed upon the forms bound and made a part of said Manual. Bid guaranty in an amount not less than ten percent (10%) of the total bid dollar amount conforming to the prescribed bidding procedures is required to be submitted with each bid, as a guaranty to be forfeited should the bidder, if awarded the contract, fail to enter into the same, or fails to furnish in a timely manner the bonds and/or proof of insurance. Pursuant to the provisions of California Labor Code Section 6707, each bid submitted in response to this Invitation to Bid shall contain, as a bid item, adequate sheeting, shoring, and bracing, or equivalent method, for the protection of life or limb in trenches and open excavation, exceeding five feet, which shall conform to applicable safety orders. By entering an amount for this bid item, the bidder warrants that its action does not convey tort liability to the SCRWA, the Design Consultant, the Construction Manager, and their officers, employees, agents, and sub- consultants. The successful contractor and its subcontractors shall employ the appropriate number of apprentices, in each apprentice-able craft, on the project site as stipulated in California Labor Code, 1777.5. As of March 1, 2015 no contractors or subcontractors may be listed on a proposal nor will they be awarded a contract unless they are registered with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR). Failure to comply with this new California state law will result in award disqualification or fines up to $2,000.00. For more information on SB 854, and to register with the DIR All bidders shall be licensed under the provisions of Chapter 9, Division 3 of the Business and Professions Code of the State of California to do the type of work contemplated in the project. In accordance with provisions of California Public Contract Code Section 3300, SCRWA has determined that the Contractor shall possess a valid Class A or Class B license at the time that the bid is submitted. Failure to possess the specified license shall render the bid as non- responsible. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Payment bond in the amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, as well as a Faithful Performance Bond in the amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price. Each bidder shall submit with its bid a statement setting forth its experience on the forms included in the Bid Proposal.
