For Proposed Wastewater Improvements - Lagoon Aeration and SAGR The City of Brighton intends to modify their existing continuous discharge two-cell aerated lagoon treatment system. The modifications include constructing four aerated, horizontal flow submerged attached growth reactor (SAGR) cells at the end of the existing two-cell lagoon; upgrading the influent structure and effluent structures, lagoon aeration and aeration equipment; and construction of sanitary and storm sewers. More specifically, the proposed treatment system includes construction of influent and effluent structures and buildings; lift station; blower building; Parshall flume; aeration system; emergency power, electrical and controls; lagoon aeration and aeration equipment; lagoon piping and structure modifications; grading; drain and tile lines; storm sewer; sanitary sewers; PCC concrete; removal of existing building and structures; farm fencing; clearing and grubbing of trees; seeding; and miscellaneous appurtenant items. The work under the proposed Contract shall commence on or before the date specified in the written Notice to Proceed. The Proposed Wastewater Improvements - Lagoon Aeration & SAGR - Brighton, Iowa - 2020, shall be fully completed within 600 calendar days after the date of commencement specified in the Notice to Proceed. The Bidder agrees to pay as liquidated damages the sum of $1,500 for each consecutive calendar day beyond the calendar day limit that the project is not fully completed. The BIDS will be considered by the City Council during their meeting beginning at 7:00 p.m. on October 6, 2020, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
