This project includes design and construction of a traffic signal using rectangular cocoa brown double mast arms and poles at the intersection of Avondale Boulevard and Lower Buckeye Road. There is an existing Salt River Project (SRP) irrigation ditch that will need to be partially placed in underground pipes. The project will also include the construction of a frontage road along the south side of Lower Buckeye. Cost sharing with Maricopa County Department of Transportation is anticipated, typically ranging between 25% and 50%. This project will account for a future widening of Avondale Blvd. The design will consider the future addition of travel lanes along Avondale Blvd, and the traffic signal will be placed in its final location. The project will maintain the checkered crosswalk across Avondale Blvd, in keeping with the race theme for nearby Phoenix Raceway. As of July 06, 2022, this project is currently in the FY 2023 CIP . Funding for this project is allotted in the city's capital improvement plan for construction Fy 2023. A firm timeline has not been established; however, construction is scheduled for Fiscal Year 2023. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
