The Village of Carol Stream, Illinois will receive Sealed Bids for a Public Works Construction contract: Schmale/St. Charles/Geneva Water Main Project. The work as shown on the drawings includes water main improvements along Geneva Road, Schmale Road, and St. Charles Road in the Village of Carol Stream and DuPage County right-of-way. The scope of work for this project mainly includes the abandonment of an existing cast iron water main with a new PVC water main along Schmale Road within the easement depicted in the plans. In addition, the scope of work includes PVC water main installation, water main abandonment, water service line replacement, new fire hydrants, horizontal directionally drilled water main, boring and jacking, intermittent storm sewer and sanitary sewer service replacement, driveway replacement, pavement patching, parkway landscaping, and all incidental and collateral work necessary to complete the project as shown on the plans and associated bid forms. The total approximate length of the improvement is approximately 7,000 feet (1.33 miles). A certified or cashier's check payable to the Village of Carol Stream, or Bid Bond, in an amount equal to five (5) percent of the Bid amount must accompany each Bid. These are the only forms of Bid Deposits that will be accepted. The envelope shall be marked: "Sealed Bid - Schmale/St. Charles/GenevaWater Main Project", and the name of the bidder. The Village of Carol Stream has determined that the services to be provided hereunder are subject to the Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/1-12. The successful Bidder shall not pay less than the prevailing rates of wages to all laborers, workmen, and mechanics performing work under this contract, and shall comply with the requirements of the Illinois Wages of Employees on Public Works Act (820 ILCS 130/1-12). No bidder may withdraw his/her bid after the scheduled closing time for a period of ninety (90) days. The Village reserves the right to reject any and all bid proposals, to waive any informality in any bid proposal, to readvertise the proposed services, and to accept the proposal most advantageous to the Village.
