Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Ayer, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
Sealed Bids for the General Contract will be received from General Contractors for construction by Ayer Department of Public Works The work involves replacement of the existing West Main Street bridge structure over the Nonacoicus Brook with a three-sided precast rigid frame, clear span of 28-feet and roadway infrastructure improvements. The bidding and award of this Contract will be under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 30, Section 39M. Complete instructions for filing Bids are included in the Instructions to Bidders. All bidders must be pre-qualified by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any or all Bids if deemed to be in its best interest. As of December 1, 2020, the project bid came in above the Town's budget and no general contractor has been selected at this time. The Town is evaluating next steps regarding the bridge replacement project.
