New construction of a detention facility in Kemptville, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a 235-bed detention facility.
Construction of a new 235-bed correctional facility in Kemptville. The new facility will be located at the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario (ARIO), otherwise known as the farm side of the former Kemptville College of Agricultural Technology, located across the street from the campus. The Ontario government says the new facility will adopt modern planning principles and design elements, including single cell occupancy, risk-classified housing units, modern programming and cultural space, open visitation spaces, and improved professional development space for staff. Project will seek LEED Silver Certification. TIMELINE: Project planning is ongoing. Scope of work is unconfirmed. RFQ for Design-Build-Finance contractors is targeted January to March 2027. Invited Request For Proposals to the prequalified teams / consortia is targeted October to December 2027. Contract execution January to March 2029. *Estimated Total Capital Costs: $200M - $499M. *NO INQUIRIES will be accepted by the consultants at this time.
