Gore Street and Rufo Road Reconstruction and Utility Upgrades The project area includes Gore Street between the Somerville municipal boundary and Monsignor O'Brien Highway, Rufo Road between the Somerville municipal boundary and Gore Street, and a portion of Lambert Street between Cambridge and Gore Streets. The work includes full-depth reconstruction of Gore Street and Rufo Road; mill and overlay reconstruction of portions of Lambert Street and other roadways intersecting Gore Street; construction of concrete, pervious asphalt, and patterned unit paver sidewalks and multi-use paths; installation of raised intersections and crossings, granite curbing, tree pits, traffic signal improvements, pavement markings and traffic signage; construction of a new water main; and installation of drainage and water system improvements. Bidding procedures shall be in accordance with M.G.L. c. 30, $39M, as mostly recently amended, and all other applicable laws. The estimated project value is: $ 5,400,000.00 Work under this Contract consists of furnishing all materials, labor, and equipment necessary to reconstruct Gore Street from the Cambridge/Somerville city line to Second Street and Rufo Road from Gore Street to the city line. This will include: resetting and installing new granite curbing; full-depth pavement reconstruction; raised intersections and crosswalks; repairs and modificationsto the existing stormwater and sanitary sewer systems, including cured-in-place pipe lining; construction of new stormwater management system components; construction of new water mains, services, and hydrants; construction of new cement concrete and pervious asphalt sidewalks, driveways, shared-use paths, and curb ramps; installation of traffic signal equipment, traffic signs, and pavement markings; installation of landscaping/streetscaping features excluding street trees; setup and maintenance of temporary traffic control measures as required to complete the work; coordination with private utility companies who will be making modifications to existing utilities, including telephone, gas, and electrical services through force accounts; and all other incidental items as shown on the Contract Drawings, as specified herein, and as otherwise directed by the Engineer. All work under this contract shall be done in conformance with; the City of Cambridge Department of Public Works Construction Standards; the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges dated 2020 and the Supplemental Specifications dated June 2020; the 2017 Construction Standard Details; the 1990 Standard Drawings for Signs and Supports; the 1996 Construction and Traffic Standard Details (as relates to the Pavement Markings details only); The 2015 Overhead Signal Structure and Foundation Standard Drawings, the 2009 Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) with Massachusetts Amendments and the Standard Municipal Traffic Code; the 1968 Standard Drawings for Traffic Signals and Highway Lighting; the latest edition of American Standard for Nursery Stock; the Plans and these Special Provisions. References to MassDOT in relation to their role as project owner or proponent shall instead refer to the City of Cambridge, the Department of Public Works, or the Engineer as applicable.
