As of February 25, 2021, a general contractor has been awarded but they are still waiting for a Notice to Proceed from the owner. They expect to start construction soon. The scope of the work shall consist of but is not limited to: roadway reconstruction and widening; bridge reconstruction of I-294 BN 229/230 over the Union Pacific Railroad; bridge reconstruction of I-294 BN 231/232 over the Union Pacific Railroad; retaining wall construction; noise abatement wall construction; drainage, including construction of the proposed closed drainage system along I-294, culvert replacement along UP Railroad; storm sewer jacking, and detention pond; signing improvements; erosion and sediment control; landscaping improvements; maintenance of traffic; temporary and permanent lighting, proposed ITS Infrastructure; and performance based items including retaining walls, temporary soil retention systems, mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls, and concrete ditch special.
