Located in the City of Seal Beach, the SBPS was originally constructed in 1972. The SBPS operates eight pumps which supply one 42-inch force main (and one out-of-service 30-inch techite pipe) that run easterly along Westminster Boulevard. Note: By April 2021, the out-of-service techite pipe will have been replaced with a new 36-inch HDPE pipe. The 36-inch HDPE will likely be in service by the time this FRC-0004 contract begins construction. See Section No. 5 for requirements regarding Work By Others. Description of the Work The CONTRACTOR shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials, machinery, tools, supplies, insurance, bonds, permits, licenses, transportation, and other incidentals necessary to complete all tasks and items of work specified within Appendices A and B, and within other portions of the Contract Documents, and as more specifically described below. The work involves replacement of eight (8) 18-inch pump suction isolation gate valves, and five (5) 14-inch pump discharge isolation gate valves inside the SBPS dry well. The work shall include any labor, material and any other equipment needed to complete the work as specified herein and in Appendices A and B. The Seal Beach Pump Station will require bypassing to replace said valves. CONTRACTOR shall bypass the pump station per specifications in Appendix B and shall coordinate with OCSD so that OCSD can shut down and start up the pump station. All work necessary to complete this replacement is the CONTRACTOR's responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to any bypassing of the pump station, removal and disposal of existing valves, purchase and installation of new suction valves, and discharge valves including gaskets, 316 SST nuts and 316 SST bolts (further described below, highlighted in Appendix A and specified in Appendix B). Valve dimensions must be field verified. All work shall follow OCSD standards and contract documents. D. Pumped bypassing as needed and where noted on the bypass plans. Responsibilities include design layout, pump and pipe sizing, and operation of bypass pumps. E. The CONTRACTOR is responsible for its own portable restroom.
