Site work for a road / highway in Whittier, California. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.

The work to be performed consists of installing soil nails in accordance with the project plans and specifications as specified hereinafter for the City of Whittier, Los Angeles County, State of California, and in accordance with the Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (The Greenbook), 2018 Edition, California Building Code Soil Nail Wall Design, 2019 Edition. Contractor shall furnish all necessary labor, tools, materials, appliances, and equipment to complete the project and be responsible for obtaining a no fee permit(s) for the project from the City of Whittier, Public Works Department and Building Department. The Contractor shall commence ordering all materials within ten (10) days after notification that the contract has been executed and shall be completed within Forty (40) working days after date set forth to start work in the Notice to Proceed. Each bid shall be made on the proposal form furnished by the City herewith and shall be in accordance with the plans, specifications and other contract documents and shall be accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check or bidders bond, payable to the City of Whittier in a sum not less than ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into the contract for the work, the full amount of such guarantee to be forfeited to the City should said bidder fail to enter into said contract. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Faithful Performance Bond in the amount of not less than one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, and a Labor and Material Bond in an amount of not less than one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price, said bonds to be secured from a surety company authorized to do business in the State of California, and subject to the approval of the City Engineer and City Attorney. The Contractor will also be required to furnish a certificate that he/she carries compensation insurance covering his/her employees upon work to be done under this contract, which may be entered into between him/her and the City of Whittier for the construction of said work. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1770 to 1777, inclusive, of the Labor Code of the State of California, copies of the prevailing rate of per diem wages are on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Whittier, 13230 Penn Street, Whittier, California 90602. Interested parties may review them at that location. The contractor shall possess a Class 'A' license (General Engineering Contractor), in accordance with the provisions of the Contractor's License Law (California Business and Professions Code, Section 7000, et. seq.) and rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto at the time this contract is awarded. No prime contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a bid proposal, be awarded a public works contract, or perform work on public works projects, unless registered and maintains registration with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 Pursuant to Whittier Municipal Code, Section 5.04.010, contractor shall obtain a City Business License. The contract will not be executed until the Contractor obtains such license from the Business License Office at City Hall, 13230 E. Penn Street, Whittier, California. The City reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to accept any portion of any bid, to waive any informality in a bid, and to make awards in the best interest of the City. No bidder may withdraw his/her bid for a period of twenty (20) working days after the bid is received. No proposal will be considered from a Contractor who is not included in the list of bidders and whom a proposal form has not been issued by the City of Whittier.
