Work under this contact is to replace, repair and modify select guardrails at Tim Hortons Field at 64 Melrose Avenue North, Hamilton. Guards will be repaired at five of the six work locations. At one location the guards will be fully replaced. Alternate pricing is being obtained for full replacement and installation of new hot dipped galvanized guards at all six locations. The Contractor is responsible to provide all access equipment, safety supervision, engineering, temporary support, etc., as necessary to access all guard areas as designated within the above noted table, and as required to facilitate the performance and inspection of the work described herein. The Contractor shall identify and mark all areas of delaminated/fractured concrete on the precast or cast in place concrete sections at the existing guard anchor plates. On Consultant's approval, repair unsound concrete sections including concrete removal, epoxy coating steel (only at cast-in-place sections), concrete preparation, and epoxy mortar replacement around the reinforcing steel. At all concrete repair locations, the Contractor shall install new waterproofing membrane to extend a minimum of 100 mm past the repaired concrete in all directions. Base coat waterproofing membrane is to be applied at the concrete repair areas along with 2-layers of top coat. The waterproofing membrane shall extend down the outer vertical face of the precast concrete to the extent necessary to cover the repaired concrete. Upon removal of existing guards, remove existing anchor bolts making sure to minimize the damage to concrete. Patch these areas with polymer modified mortar and make good the membrane. The Contractor shall install tack welds according to the drawings at Work Locations 1-5. Tack welds are to be 1/2" long and spaced at 12" on center.
