The City of Hutchinson (the City) is seeking qualification statements from engineering firms with expertise in intersection, interchange, highway design, and traffic modeling to complete a corridor study that considers the feasibility of terminating the Woodie Seat Freeway at Avenue F in Hutchinson, Kansas. This study will supplement an existing TEAP study performed to review options for the Woodie Seat Freeway and Avenue A interchange. All questions regarding the project must be received via the above email by March 11, 2022, or may not be answered. On November 1, 2022, the Hutchinson City Council voted 3-2 in opposition of a plan to construct a pedestrian tunnel under a reconstructed Woodie Seat Freeway. Instead, the City will proceed with a plan to remove the Avenue B bridge and move new sidewalks on reach side of the roadway connecting it to Avenues A and C. Design will proceed. A 60% plan check is anticipated in April 2023, with a final check in November 2023 prior to the project being advertised for construction bids. *Project information, including timeline and contacts, has been obtained through public sources.
