Asbestos abatement for a detention facility in Danville, Kentucky. Completed plans call for asbestos abatement for a detention facility.
The boiler house was built circa 1937 and renovated in subsequent projects. The four existing boilers are all similar in design and appearance. The boiler house is slated for eventual demolition by others, but the scope of this project is to abate regulated asbestos containing materials from the interior and exterior of the boiler house. All bids shall be accompanied by a bid guarantee (in the form of a bid bond or certified check) of not less than five (5%) percent of the amount of the lump sum base bid. A 100% Performance Bond and a separate 100% Payment Bond shall be furnished by the successful bidder. All bonding and insurance requirements are contained in the Instructions to Bidders and/or General Conditions. Bonds should be executed by a surety company authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The regulated ACMs include friable thermal insulating materials in the boiler walls and on piping and associated fittings and joints. An asbestos survey has been completed for this project. Abate Asbestos From 4 Boilers Remove all asbestos from the fire box (walls, floors, and tops), steam drum, mud drum, and any other component considered part of the boiler system. Abate Asbestos From Piping and Associated Fittings Remove all asbestos from all piping, elbows, valves, breeching, ductwork and any other fittings. Project Base Bid will be based on 375 Tons estimate of total abated and disposed material. Unit pricing provided will be used to reconcile and adjust based on total quantities provided from Disposal Manifest from approved permitted landfill
