Restoration of two external fountains, ~16,000 sq ft and ~4,000 sq ft, at the Central Library and associated auxiliary fountain equipment. The work will involve removal and replacement of the failed fountain liners, replacement of the fountain piping and exterior lighting, replacement of fountain pumps, control systems, and installation of new filtration and water treatment equipment. Installation of new equipment enclosure building as well as minor landscaping and asphalt work. Proposals must be accompanied by a proposal guarantee consisting of a certified or cashier's check or bid bond payable to the AGENCY in the amount not less than 10% of the total amount named in the proposal. Any proposal not accompanied by such a guarantee will not be considered. Said check or bond shall be made payable to the AGENCY, and shall be given as a guarantee that the bidder, if awarded the Work, will enter into a contract within 10 working days after the award and will furnish the necessary bonds as hereinafter provided. In the case of refusal or failure to enter into said contract, the check or bond, as the case may be, shall be forfeited to the AGENCY. The Contractor shall require the Water Feature Subcontractor to furnish to the Contractor performance and payment bonds in the amount of 100% of the Water Feature Subcontractor's bid written by a surety Company properly registered in the State of California and listed by the U.S. Treasury. The expense of the bond(s) is to be borne by the Subcontractor. The Contractor shall clearly specify the amount and requirements of the bond(s) in the Contractor's written or published request for subbids. The Contractor's written or published request for subbids shall also specify that the bond(s) expense is to be borne by the Subcontractor.
