The project was developed under UPC #109573, State Project Number U000-204-176, P101, R201, C501, and Federal Project Number HSIP-5204 (127) / FHWA 534 #(24021)., U000-204-176, 16-0865.001 The Work under this Project consists of construction activities along US 522 (Sperryville Pike/West Evans Street) between Covington Street and North West Street. The work generally consists of: Concrete sidewalk with curb & gutter on the north side of the roadway between Covington Street and the existing roundabout at the intersection of US 522 with Colonel Jameson Boulevard / Virginia Avenue. From the existing roundabout to North West Street, the existing roadway will be reduced (Road Diet) from two travel lanes in each direction down to one travel lane in each direction with bicycle lanes in both directions and raised, grassed median islands with street trees and lighting with pavement markings. For the road diet section, sidewalk improvements including the replacement of existing curb ramps are required as shown on the plans. A mini-roundabout will also be constructed at the intersection of US 522 and North Blue Ridge Avenue. Drainage and utility work including two underground detention systems. Major Items of work are identified as: Concrete and Asphalt Drainage and Stormwater Management Pedestrian Traffic Signals, Signs, Pavement Markings and Lighting Street Trees This project shall be constructed in accordance with: the Virginia Department of Transportation Road and Bridge Specifications, dated 2020; the Virginia Department of Transportation Road and Bridge Standards, dated 2020; the 2011 edition of the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual; the 2009 edition of the MUTCD; the Virginia Supplement to the MUTCD, dated 2011; and Special Provisions and Special Provision Copied Notes in this contract. A Bid Security in the amount of 5% of the Bid shall be submitted with each Bid. A Virginia contractor license number issued to the Contractor by DPOR will be required prior to award. Contractor registration in accordance with Title 2.2 Chapter 43, Code of Virginia is required. VDOT Prequalified Contractors and/or Subcontractors are required for this project. Prequalification of Contractors and/or Subcontractors shall be in accordance with VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications, Section 102. Withdrawal of Bids due to error shall be subject to and in accordance with Section 2.2-4330 of the Code of Virginia and the Contract Documents. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all Bids and to waive any minor non-substantive errors in the Bid.
