Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a civil project in Austin, Texas. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.
Capital Metro is seeking a qualified contractor to demolish four timber bridges and replace them with concrete box-culverts. To reduce the cost of maintenance on short timber bridges, Capital Metro has decided to replace the short span bridges with box culverts to withstand the 100-year flood. This was a part of the State of Good Repairs program. These system-wide enhancements will improve the rail infrastructure and reduce the overall maintenance cost. Time of Completion: 214 Calendar Days The magnitude of this contract is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. i) Remove joint bars and remove rail (for reuse). Construct track panel on site ii) Demolish timber bridge stringers, track ties, backwalls, bridge foundations and piling iii) Define streambed and compacted fill material under culvert. Install box culverts/pipes iv) Backfill, place ballast to slightly lower than bottom of tie v) Place track panel, fill cribs with ballast vi) Weld rail end, surface track, inspect track and place track into service vii) Construct wingwalls and concrete aprons viii) Test the existing signal system
