Brooks Camp Septage Treatment and Disposal System, Katmai National Park and Preserve, KATM 238414 This project is located at Brooks Camp, within Katmai National Park & Preserve. This project will provide for closure of the existing LLC and development of a new compliant wastewater treatment and disposal site for both the vault toilet raw sewage and the septic tank septage generated at the Brooks Camp developed areas. The new Brooks Camp Sewage Sludge Lagoon will be located adjacent to the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes Road (Valley Road) in the vicinity of the Mile 1.8 Pit historic borrow site. The proposed site will require approximately 1.65 acres of clearing, grubbing, and grading for construction site access. The proposed lagoon will require approximately 3,100 cubic yards (CY) of unclassified excavation. The proposed borrow pit source for lagoon embankment materials is the Mile 5 Pit quarry site. Mile 5 Pit is an active borrow pit which has been previously utilized for roadway materials during periodic Valley Road maintenance. The Mile 5 Pit quarry is approximately 3.2 miles from the Mile 1.8 Pit NE lagoon site, as the location names suggest. The National Park Service (NPS) plans to furnish the material mining rights such that the contractor may extract, crush, and sort the required amount of embankment materials within the Park at no additional charge for royalties. The contractor's price for earthwork materials will be limited to the extraction, sorting, crushing, hauling, and final installation. The lagoon embankments will require approximately 4,800 CY of additional select borrow fill from Mile 5 Pit. Participants will meet NPS staff at the King Salmon Airport at 10:45 AM local time on Thursday, May 20, 2021. The NPS will shuttle the offerors from King Salmon to the project site at Brooks Camp, and then back to the King Salmon airport by 4:00 PM local time. This will allow those returning to Anchorage, Alaska, to make the 4:40 PM local time return flight out of King Salmon. The offerors who plan on attending shall notify the NPS to allow us to plan. Attendance will be limited to no more than two (2) individuals from each offeror.
